Preparation of the bones for the implants

The internal space of the thigh bone (known as medullary cavity) is then prepared with forming rasps for the implantation of the stem in such a way that it will exactly fit.

After the final gratings, a test prosthesis in inserted. This serves to determine the optimal position and the exact size of the final implants as well as to check whether all drillings have been performed correctly. This step is very important and decisive for the later mobility and stability of the joint.
